CHANGE

Change.  Just recently I saw my husband’s Discover magazine on the dining room table.  Big headlines: Our Melting Planet.  Is Earth slowly dying?  Desert land is increasing daily.  Huston is washed out. We have caused the disappearance of half the existing species in fifty years.  We cannot deny it, all of our experiences on earth have changed immensely.  Blame “climate change” or more likely, “climate breakdown.”

There have been more changes on Earth over the past one hundred years, than there have been in the 200,000 years before.  Whether we like it or not, for our children, the world is going to CHANGE drastically.

Doom and gloom.  People don’t want to think about it, hide their heads in the sand.  Too late, can’t do anything about it.  We can’t go back.  However, we CAN put brakes on the disasters,  We CAN save earth for humanity!   We are the ones who have to CHANGE.

How?  “People don’t want to change.  People don’t know how to change.”  That’s not true.  When the world went to war in the forties, the population changed everything instantly.  Women left their homes and started to work.  There were food rations.  Small food gardens sprouted up instantly.  Everyone participated in the “war effort.”

All right, again, how do we change?  The other day the newspaper Vancouver Sun published a large page that said:

If You Love this Earth

Avoid flying

Eat less meat

Have fewer children.

That would be a good start.  What would a sustainable life style look like.?  What to have to look forward to?  Really, a lot.  In future blogs we will consider many issues.  The future could be very bright.  Let’s look forward to it.  Happy changing!  Satya Brown
